Concerned Parents of Color: The MINIMUM in SAT Preparation

Education

There is an old saying <FONT color=#0000ff>PMP, which stands for <FONT color=#0000ff>Practice Makes Perfect.
<FONT color=#0000ff>PMP means that to get good at something you have to do it over and over again until your mind, body, and spirit know it by heart.

Whether it is singing and choir rehearsal, football and practice, academic classes and homework, or church service and daily bible study, the same principle holds.

This also applies to test taking and especially the SAT.  Since you get better the more you do something, a student should NEVER enter his or her senior year planning to attend college, without previously taking more than one SAT or SAT-like test.

The Concerned Parents of Color recommends the following as the <FONT color=#ff4500>MINIMUM schedule for SAT preparation.

  1. <DIV class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; tab-stops: list .5in; mso-list: l32 level1 lfo51"><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#0000ff>Take the PSAT in the Fall of your Sophomore year
  2. <DIV class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; tab-stops: list .5in; mso-list: l32 level1 lfo51"><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#0000ff>Take the PSAT again in the Fall of your Junior year.  This is also when your score can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship
  3. <DIV class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; tab-stops: list .5in; mso-list: l32 level1 lfo51"><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#0000ff>Take the SAT in the Spring of your Junior year.
  4. <DIV class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; tab-stops: list .5in; mso-list: l32 level1 lfo51"><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=#0000ff>Take the SAT in the Fall of your Senior year for your college admission applications.
