Children

A review of the choir's past year by the Director, Marshalee Kehlhem.

Children's Choir - Year in Review
Greater Framingham Community Church
October 2004 - June 2005

Marshalee Kehlhem, Children's Choir Director

We were amazed and blown away by the solos done by Alexys Butler and Porsha Funches on the new song "Redeemer."  Then we were equally blessed and blown away by Alex Cosme and Omari Steans' rendition on "The Glory Song."  There were also solos from the twins Christopher and Eric Reynolds, singing "This Little Light of Mine" which was the cutest thing!  That song was done with the song "Kids of the Kingdom" which had solos from the smallest children in the group including Shanice Foreman, Daisha Walker, and Ayana McKay.  We also sang "He Reigns - Our God is An Awesome God."  Then there was "The Blood" done by Tara Fisher and Omari Steans, I loved that duet - they did such an awesome job.  There was also "The Blood (Part II)" with great solos by Derrick Fisher, Daisha Walker, Ayana McKay and Sydney Scott.  Talking about Sydney I definitely did not forget the great job she did all Christmas on "Happy Birthday Jesus."  We also sang "Shabak" where Isaiah Brown did a good job leading us in praise!

It was also great to sing the older songs from the days of Deacon McCain such as "Every Day" which Porsha takes to a higher level each time that she sings it.  She's amazing.  We also sang "Thank You Lord For Saving Me" which is so simple but so touching, the soloists included Daisha, Sydney, Alexys and Ayana.  We all enjoyed "12 Gates to the City" and "One-Step" each time we sang them.  There's also "He Knows My Name" done by Najah Walker, and "There Is Hope" by Tara, Sydney, and Alexys.  Please forgive me if my memory has failed me in anyway.  We did a whole-lot-a singing!

We instituted having devotions every third Saturday.  Our main focus was on the importance of humility.  Our musicians were Rick Utaegbulam (drummer) and Ben Keyes (pianist).  Ben married in April and moved up north to Canada after many years of invaluable service to the Children's Choir.  For the rest of the season we worked with Pianist, Rafael Alcala and Bill Geha.  It is sad to say that Tara and Derrick Fisher two of our soloist will be moving to Delaware.  Derrick and Tara - we will miss you so much.  Thanks for your hard work.  We know God will continue to bless you as you move to a new choir and church community.  We will never forget you, and we love you.

I'm thankful for the parents who helped with the kids throughout the year.  My appreciation goes out to Pastor, Anita Beckett, Bobbye Reed, Michele McKay, and Lisa Collaza for your endless dedication.  Also a big thank you to all the parents for diligently bringing the children to choir rehearsal on Saturday and taking them to special events when we were asked to sing.  Thank you so much!

All-in-all we have had a very great time and God was with us.  Kids you were great and I really had a great time with you.  Parents, you have every reason to be very proud of your little ones.  It was fun and a blessing!  We'll top off our year with a close-out celebration of cake and ice cream!
