Concerned Parents of Color: Ron Brown Scholarship 2008 Winners

Every year millions of black students seek scholarships via a host of avenues.  o­ne of those avenues is the    www.blackexcel.org    website, which lists hundreds of scholarship opportunities.  The journal of Blacks in Higher Education recently listed the 2008 winners for the Ron Brown Scholars scholarship. 

CPC is displaying this list via the link below, so that both parents and students can see that real people actually do win these scholarships and thereby encourage them in their efforts to do the same.

Concerned Parents of Color: Recognition Celebration --- June 14 2008

The 2008 GFCC Recognition Celebration will be held Saturday June 14, 2008 from 3:30 to 6:00 PM.  It will consist of the ceremony held in the sanctuary followed by dinner in the  Fellowship Hall downstairs.

On Thursday May 8, 2008 from 2:00 to 5:30 PM in Nurses Hall, The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will hold Delta Day at the State House o­n the subject of: "Closing the Achievement Gap for Minority Students in Massachusetts".

Our own Paula Martin and Ron Butler will serve as discussion panel participants.

Concerned Parents of Color: UMass Isenberg Summer CAMP Program

The Isenberg School of Management at the University of Masschusetts at Amherst conducts a o­ne week summer residency program directed toward minority high school juniors who are interested in the accounting profession.  The 2008 CAMP (Careers in Acounting Management Profession) Program runs from Sunday August 3rd through Friday August 8th.

Our own Ashley Lackard was a participant in this program.

On the bulletin board downstairs at the church you probably have already noticed the March 28, 2008 NU Voice article where Cynthia's discusses her receiving tenure in accounting at the university.

This article was not o­nline at the moment, but the February 20, 2008 issue mentions the fact that she received this status (see the link below).
