What We Are Up To

Our Vision, Goals, Strategy, and Plan

The Men's Christian Fellowship at Greater Framingham Community Church is comprised of men who love God and want to learn more about his teachings. To reach that goal the men meet over breakfast and study the Bible, lead by Rev. Benjamin Abrahams. The Men's Christian Fellowship is always committed to programs and events that provide support, encouragement and a positive role model to our youth and community. We provide scholarships and grants to college bound students in the Church and the Metrowest Area through fundraisers including The GFCC Golf Tournament and the GospelFest.

Under the theme "One Man, One Ministry" below is a list of sub-ministries that support the above vision and goals:

Men’s Bible Study

The MCF Bible study is held on the second and fourth Saturday’s from 8:30am to 10:00am. The Bible study encourages men to learn more about the Bible, develop a closer relationship with God, and apply lessons learned in the bible to their everyday life. A full breakfast is served prior to bible study at 8:00 a.m. The men that attend the bible study take turns in preparing the breakfast. Each man is assigned a team to cook with and traditionally cooks once a year. The Bible study is always full of lively discussion centered around issues of today as well as the interpretation of God's word. There is a short business meeting following the Bible study to address issues concerning the administration of the group and continued success in reaching our various goals and activities.

Men’s Day

The Men of the church provide the direction for the Men’s Day Sunday Service. This service recognizes various accomplishments of men throughout history. It celebrates the good news that men indeed are active in the church and worship God.

Men’s Retreat

The objective of the Men’s Retreat Committee is to provide men with a spiritual experience in a setting outside of the church that will help men examine their relationship with God, examine their personal and family lives and fellowship with other likeminded men.

Turning Point Shelter

The MCF provides and serves dinner as well as fellowship with the Turning Point homeless shelter in Framingham on the January 31, March 31, May 31, July 31, August 31, October 31, and December 31.

Scholarship Ministry

GFCC is pleased with its history of distributing more than $90,000 in college scholarships and schooling grants. Last year's efforts allowed us to support outstanding students during the 2008 - 2009 school year. We are thankful for the GFCC men’s volunteer effort, to ensure that a high standard of education continues as a focus in the community. Our scholarship process helps prepare youth for success with the understanding that when they step up with their best efforts, assistance is forthcoming. Our award values student academic achievement, community service, and extracurricular activities and is a forum to communicate their preparedness for higher education.

Golf Tournament Ministry

The Golf Tournament is an annual fundraiser that generates funds that support the Scholarship Program. The tournament has raised more than $120,000 in scholarship funds over the past thirteen years. The committee meets throughout the year and interfaces with various organizations outside of the church to generate revenue as well as introduce the game of golf to congregation members.

Men’s Treasury

The Men’s treasury monitors and reviews all funds generated through the MCF. The Ministry Treasurer reconciles with the Church Treasurer, as well as MCF ministry leaders on a regular basis. The ministry provides fiscal direction for the MCF for any proposed or completed undertaking, requested to attend business meetings of the MCF, and insures that the MCF is represented at the Board of Finance and the Church Council meeting.

Youth Outreach of Men’s Christian Fellowship Ministry

The Men’s Christian fellowship is committed to modeling Christian male behavior to the youth of the community. The Youth Outreach of MCF will be responsible for developing a plan to build relationships among the men and youth of the church. This may involve collaborating with other ministries within GFCC

Men’s Choir

All men of GFCC are welcome to participate within the Men’s Choir. The Men’s choir traditionally sings on fifth Sundays. In addition, on occasion the choir may accompany the Pastor to an afternoon service or be requested to sing at a outside church function. Rehearsals typically follow the Men’s Bible study/breakfast and may require and additional rehearsal during the month the choir is scheduled to sing.

Churchmanship

All men of GFCC are to display good churchmanship.
