Welcome To The GFCC Board Of Youth Ministry

Welcome to GFCC's Board Of Youth Ministry

Our Mission

The Board of Youth endeavors to expose our children to numerous activities that expand their minds and provide positive reinforcement for them as they go about their lives as young Christians. It is our firm belief that they are not only the future of Greater Framingham Community Church, but they are also the present Greater Framingham Community Church. We are striving to help them develop a sense of commitment not only to themselves but also to their church, families, friends, and community.

What We Are Up To

Our Vision, Goals, Strategy, and Plan

The Board of Youth Ministry plans and coordinates activities and programs for the children and youth of GFCC. They develop a decentralized approach to youth ministry. This involves programs in three age groups; Primary Fellowship, Junior Fellowship, and Teen Fellowship. Along with these groups, the Board of Youth provides a number of annual programs such as the MLK Conference, Rally Day, Retreats, and Recognition Day.

MLK Conference – On the Saturday before Martin Luther King Day, the Board of Youth Ministry along with some local organizations sponsor the MLK Conference where they provide workshops for both parents and children. These workshops include topics as Self Improvement, Academic Advancement, and Financial Aid/Scholarships.

Rally Day – In order to jumpstart the fall activities, the BYM and the Sunday School Department sponsor a Rally Day in early September. This program introduces parents to the various youth oriented programs for their children. At Rally Day, groups like the Scouts (Boys and Girls), Sunday school, and Choirs (Children’s and Youth) highlight their programs and sign up new children to the program.

Retreat – Each year, the BYM plans to retreat, a one-day retreat for the younger children, and a weekend retreat in April or May for the teens. These retreats provide workshops to address age specific issues and provide a venue for social and physical development. The teen retreat also involves a facilitator and a keynote speaker.

Recognition Day – This program occurs on the second weekend in June where the BYM recognizes the children and youth for their achievements during the year. This also includes those advancing from the various levels and those graduating from high school and college. On the Sunday for that weekend, the children and youth are responsible for leading the worship service. During this weekend, the children are able to demonstrate their gifts and talents to the congregation.

Our Blessings

Teen Church – Its purpose is to foster the spiritual, emotional, and creative growth of the GFCC teens. They meet on the second Sunday of each month, under the leadership of Rev. Lackard. During Teen Church, teens get involved with worship and particpate in Bible study.

The Teen Retreat – This is an event that the teens really look forward to each year. We had about 50 participants. This weekend affords our teens to explore developmental changes, maturity, and reflection on their growth in Christ

Youth Jam – On Saturday March 15, 2004, the youth of GFCC joined with teenages from 12th Baptist Church and others from the community for an evening of worship and fellowship. At the Jam, teen choir and children's choir sang, teens did skits, danced and step. The worship experience was a time of blessing for all in attendance.

Nursing Home Visit – On Sunday, December 10, 2007, a group of teens (approx. 15) visited the Kathleen Daniels Nursing Home in Framingham and shared the gospel with the residents. The teens sang several carols and Rev.. Lackard closed by presenting the gospel.
