FIRESIDE CHAT QUESTIONS

 

1. What is the central theme of this parable?  Why is the theme so significant?

2. In the setting of the scene leading up to the interaction with the Pharisees, why are they watching Jesus so intently?

3. In ancient Hebrew history, why is the "Triclinium" of significance to what's happening with the parable of the great banquet?

4. In verse 15 of the text, why do you think Jesus takes such a stance on an invitation to the "elitist" versus the poor, the lame, and the blind?

5. God has extended each of us an invitation to the grand banquet.  Why is it so important and urgent that we respond?

6. Should we as true Christians look for or expect payment for serving God's people, especially the downtrodden and the indigent?

7. Why is the text found in Luke 14:15 so important? What is the central theme of Jesus' teaching in this verse?
